Adirondack Illustrator - Ruth LaBarge
Ruth LaBarge trains bears. Her black bears, grizzlies and Kodiac bears weigh from 800 - 1,500 lbs. They earn their living by doing commercials and movie contracts. Kids don’t try this at home! Bears in the wild should never be approached or fed. (Ruth with Bonkers.)

Kids Questions...

Question: What is the most dangerous animal in Africa?
Asked by Molly Wagner at Elizabethtown Lewis Central School.

Answer: It may come as a surprise to many, but the hippopotamus injures more humans than any other animal in Africa each year.(More than the lion, cheetah or elephant). This is because hippos are very territorial and will not tolerate intruders, even accidental ones! They also are very fast depite their large bodies and have VERY big teeth.
